Owners of the Vic Husslers 6 Horse Racing Team are winning on the track and proving their generosity off it with another big cheque deposited for the FightMND charity courtesy of their horse Team Captain.
On the back of winning the Hamilton Cup, Team Captain trained by Matt Cumani romped home at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day winning the Macca’s Run and stamping himself as a Melbourne Cup contender next year.
Again, there was the question which of our thousands of owners get to keep the winning trophy?
“After the success of staging an owners raffle for the Hamilton Cup and raising $13,062 for FightMND, The Racing League decided to once again put the Macca’s Run trophy up and our big-hearted owners responded with another $14,887.25 that’s a huge effort” TRL CEO Steve Brown said.
Ricky Russ was the proud Vic Husslers’ owner to have his name pulled out in the draw and win the Macca’s Run trophy.
“Helping such a good cause like FightMND is just another bonus of mirco-ownership on top of helping other key metrics in the industry like crowds, atmosphere, turnover and engagement” Brown added.
Why choose FightMND as the charity for the Vic Husslers?
Well, Vic Husslers owners were asked to name a Pride of Dubai colt trained by Peter Moody after an iconic Melbourne sporting moment. Strangely enough, The Big Freeze was nominated and voted as the winning name.
“Motor Neurone is a horrific disease and we are delighted that our Vic Husslers owners have decided to support The Big Freeze and FightMND”.
