It’s the most remarkable weekend of racing with the world’s richest sprint race the $15 million Tab Everest at Royal Randwick along with one of the world’s great staying contests in the Caulfield Cup.
For TRL owners there’s 4 runners over the next 4 days across all three states.
Hot Spring Gold on Saturday at Eagle Farm, Bellinger (Horsham) along with Eureka Storm (Pakenham) on Sunday while Sidenay (Muswellbrook) is due to return to the track on Monday.
More on those horses coming up along with the major chances from your TRL trainers this Saturday.
ROMANS SMOKIN & TEAM CAPTAIN
Team Captain is heading to the Geelong Cup next Wednesday and many will remember he was an unlucky third behind a horse called Smokin Romans in the Pakenham Cup.
Well Smokin’ Romans is now tight in the market at $5 for the Caulfield Cup. The Ciaron Maher trained galloper has continued to improve,he’s won his last two and has champion jockey Jamie Kah in the saddle.
Reckon we can get off to a great start with Right You Are in Race 1.
While at Randwick, Cadre Du Noir (Race 8) was just nosed out last start but can score here.

PRICE CAN WIN THE EVEREST AND EUREKA STORM CAN ALSO WIN
Michael Kent Junior gave a glowing appraisal and a big push for Eureka Storm who returns returns at Pakenham on the synthetic track on Sunday. We trust he’s a good judge.
At Randwick, The Golden Rose was nice but winning the $15 million Tab Everest would be so much better.
Jacquinot is already a valuable colt, if he wins the world’s richest turf race his stud value skyrockets.
Only one 3yo has won the Everest in Yes Yes Yes, but they mostly run well.
Nature Strip is clearly the horse to beat at $2 but watch for Jacquinto storming late.
BET: Jacquinot – (Randwick Race 7)
BET: Eureka Storm – Each Way (Pakenham Sunday Race 1)
FREEDMAN’S HIT THE ROAD
Richard and Will have 2yo Etched In Time for the NSW Tycoons settling into the Rosehill stable for his first week in the big smoke.
While the boys have taken two horses to Caulfield with big chances.
Pavitia is a nice 3yo filly who has won 2 of her last 3 and stepping up to 2000m suits.
Juan Diva $5.50 has won this track and distance in fact last prep she won first up at Caulfield.
BET: PAVITIA – Each Way (Caulfield Race 4)
BET: Juan Diva – Each Way (Caulfield Race 6)
NEWNHAM HAS THE DRAGON BY THE TAIL
Mark Newnham has outsider Joyful Fortune $61 in the Everest, we wish Mark luck but can’t tip the former Hong Kong galloper.
We can tip Dragonstone at Caulfield. This horse is very good fresh and thrives in the Heavy ground (6-1-3-1).
BET: Dragonstone – Win (Caulfield Race 7)
MUNCE EXPECTS HOT SPRING GOLD TO BE FLASHING HOME
It will be a long wait for Qld Rogues owners with Hot Spring Gold in the very last race at Eagle Farm.
Trainer Chris Munce reports Hot Spring, who has won two of his past three starts, is in perfect order and if jockey Brodie Loy can get to the outside of the field in the start he will charge home.
At Caulfield, also have something on Palaisipan $5.50. She was caught wide last start, is Group 1 placed and got me out of a lot of trouble by winning the last on Stradbroke day. I’m sticking.
BET: Hot Spring Gold – Each Way (EF Race 10)
BET: Palaisipan – Each Way (Caulfield Race 8)
THE HAYES TEAM HAS PLENTY OF HONOUR
Ben and JD Hayes take Bellinger to Horsham on Sunday, if he can win there the Vic Husslers will have Bellinger qualifying and racing down the Flemington straight on the final day of the carnival. Now that’s exciting.
At Caulfield, Lady Of Honour $5 hasn’t been unplaced in her last three starts, races up on pace, makes her own luck and gives a great kick.
BET: Bellinger – Each Way (Horsham Race 8)
BET: Lady Of Honour – Each Way (Caulfield Race 10)
RIDE THE WAVE WITH GAI AND SURF DANCER
Let’s pray for some fine weather for Randwick and the track to stay in the Soft range.
Surf Dancer $4.60 is great on the Soft ground, is typical of a Gai and Adrian runner goes forward and proves hard to run down.
In The Congo $6, gets the advantage of James McDonald, must admit was ordinary first-up but is good enough to turn that form around. Take on trust.
BET: Surf Dancer – Each Way (Randwick Race 3)
BET: In The Congo – Each Way (Randwick Race 6)
BRETT CAVANOUGH TO CLIMB THE MOUNTAIN
It’s the little brother to The Everest, but for a country trainer The Kosciuszko is still a great mountain to climb.
Brett Cavanough got to the top two years ago winning the big race with It’s Me. She has had plenty of injury setbacks since she won the Kosciuszko two years ago, but with J-Mac in the saddle she can win again and watch big Cav celebrate.
BET: It’s Me – Each Way (Randwick Race 5)
Good luck and good punting.
