The Qld Rogues were celebrating again on Saturday with Hot Spring Gold saluting for the fourth time for the team careering away for a spectacular victory in Race 3 at Eagle Farm.
Mind you it wasn’t all smooth sailing and there were plenty of nervous moments for the big army of owners on track and even more watching on screens all over the Sunshine State.
It was real heart-in-the-mouth stuff, with Hot Spring Gold trapped on the fence behind a wall of horses with nowhere to go at the 300m mark only to see the Rogues’ Magic Man Martin Harley extricate himself and Hot Spring Gold did the rest with a blistering final 200m.
“I drew well, he began okay, he relaxed well and was traveling beautifully, we just didn’t have anywhere to go. The horse deserves the credit once we saw a bit of daylight he picked up really well and put them away easily,” jockey Martin Harley said.
“That was a good win, he loves the 1500m at Eagle Farm and it was good to see him perform with so many Rogues on course to cheer him on.
“We will look closely at stepping him up to a mile at Doomben on Saturday week, but will let the dust settle first,” foreman Corey Munce said.
Once again, Congratulations QLD Rogues!
