It’s a time of reflection right now at TRL with The Star Championships coming to a close last Saturday at Royal Randwick.
It was a week of thrills and after much anticipation over who would take out the Queen Elizabeth Stakes, we saw international horse Dubai Honour push past Aussie favourite Anamoe.
We can’t ignore the great success of some of your Trainers either.
Ben and JD Hayes took out the $4 million Star Doncaster Mile with Mr Brightside who delivered back-to-back wins.
But the joy for VIC Hussler trainers didn’t stop there. Peter Moody, trainer of The Big Freeze, won the $3 million Furphy TJ Smith Stakes with I Wish I Win who stormed down the outside, beating Giga Kick and Mazu.
To top off Day 1 of the Championships NSW Tycoons co-trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott won their first Australian Derby with Major Beel.
Cool Jakey made his first Saturday debut at Randwick on Championships Day 2 in the South Pacific Classic and owners in the NSW Tycoons took over the Theatre of the Horse. He finished fifth after sitting in a comfortable second for the majority of the race. After pulling up with an injury to his shoulder post-race he’ll head to Emeran Park for a spell. We look forward to Jakey getting back to feeling like his best self as soon as possible.
For some owners in the NSW Tycoons, their day kicked off with a feature on Sky News Australia’s Racing Dreams to talk all about the thrill of ownership with TRL so far. You can watch the interview below.
The Autumn Carnival concludes this Saturday at Royal Randwick and we wish the best to all of our TRL Trainers with runners on the day.
