QUIET BEFORE THE STORM FOR TRL OWNERS

Mar 17, 2023

QUIET BEFORE THE STORM

The mighty Bellinger continued the winning spree for owners in TRL, saluting by a big margin before an enthusiastic group of Husslers at Morphettville.

That takes the total winners for TRL owners to 28 from 16 runners at a strike rate of 25%, and I reckon that will improve over the next couple of weeks with 4 runners set to hit the track.

TRL UPCOMING RUNNERS :

Cool Jakey: March 22 – Randwick

The Big Goodbye: March 25 – Eagle Farm

Bellinger: March 25 – Flemington or April 1 Bendigo

Lethal Thoughts: April 1 – Bendigo

Good luck to all owners now let’s check out the major chances for your TRL Trainers this Saturday.

GAI ALREADY HAS 7 SLIPPERS

Gai Waterhouse already has that remarkable record of 7 Golden Slipper winners and she’s a chance of making it 8 on Saturday with Red Resistance and Platinum Jubilee.

Red Resistance is an $11 chance who despite drawing the car park will spear across from the wide gate and take some running down.

Earlier in the day at Rosehill, the stable can win the second with Sir Lucan, who has to lump 58kgs but is rock hard fit.

At Moonee Valley, Alligator Blood looks a good thing in the $5 million All Star Mile he’ll go forward and defy all challengers.

BET: Red Resistance – Each Way (Rosehill Race 8)

BET: Sir Lucan – Each Way (Rosehill Race 2)

BET: Alligator Blood – Win (Moonee Valley Race 7)

MARK NEWNHAM TO TAKE THE EASIER PATH WITH COOL JAKEY

Cool Jakey did accept for the Darby Munro at Rosehill, but the field came up extremely strong this year so trainer Mark Newnham has decided to bypass this Saturday for Randwick next Wednesday.

At Rosehill, Mark has the promising Stanstoc at $10 in Race 3, she’s won her past 2 in town at the midweeks and can step up to Saturday class.

BET: Stantstoc  –  Each Way (Rosehill Race 3)

CIARON MAHER ON A GOLD TRIP

Could be a massive day for the Maher/Eustace stable with Steel Prince hard to beat in the Golden Slipper while Gold Trip looks a massive hope in the Group 1 Ranvet – Race 6.

The reigning Melbourne Cup winner was a terrific second last start in the Peter Young, and the 2,000 metres will suit even better.

BET: Gold Trip – Each Way (Race 6 – Rosehill)

O’DEA/HOYSTED TO A NEW LEVEL

The Steve O’Dea/Matt Hoysted yard has gone to a new level with their star Uncommon James looking for another Group 1 when lining up in The Galaxy at Rosehill.

Uncommon James has already been smashed in early markets and should only improve off his Oakleigh Plate win.

BET: Uncommon James – Each Way (Rosehill Race 9)

BET: Hold On Honey – Win (Doomben Race 1)

MUNCE ACROSS TWO STATES

Chris Munce is spreading himself between two states on Saturday.

At Doomben, Jetty who knocked over The Big Goodbye last start can win again and remains at the juicy odds of $8.

While at Rosehill, you’ll have to wait until the last but Palaisipan looks good value at $6 and has already been well supported in early markets.

BET: Jetty – Each Way (Doomben Race 5)

BET: Palaisipan – Each Way (Rosehill Race 10)

PRICE/KENT TO STRIKE AT VALUE

I’m steering away from I’m Thunderstruck in the All Star Mile, but do like another couple of runners from the Price/Kent yard.

Lombardo, is a winner of 8 of 18, drops back massively in grade at the Valley – Race 6 and has already attracted good support in the market.

Wee Nessy (Race 8) was a real eye catcher last start and at $15 can improve again and finish in the finish.

BET: Lombardo – Each Way (MV Race 6)

BET: I Wish I Win – Each Way (MV Race 8)

ONE MORE CHANCE FOR EYE PEA OH

The Richard and Will Freedman trained Eye Pea Oh was one of the best runners in the country at it’s last start only to be trapped wide and not finish in the placegetters.

This horse does some galloping with Luna Rocks so I’ll give him one more chance at Doomben (Race 4).

BET: Eye Pea Oh – Each Way (Doomben Race 4)

GOLLAN SUPER CONFIDENT OF A DOOMBEN DOUBLE

QLD Rogues trainer Tony Gollan will be in Sydney for Slipper day, but I reckon he can come up with a double at Doomben.

I’m super confident about the chances of Isotope in Race 6 and All That Pizzas in Race 8 in Brisbane.

Isotope is a 5yo mare with plenty of talent who worked well during the work, as did All That Pizzaz who looked fantastic winning at Eagle Farm last start and can win again.

BET: Isotope – Win (Doomben Race 6)

BET: All That Pizzas – Win (Doomben Race 8)

Good luck and good punting!
