Luna Rocks staked her claim for a shot at glory on the $11.5 million Magic Millions day with an emphatic trial victory at Rosehill this past Thursday.
The Freedman camp will see how she pulls up before nominating a return to the track but the target remains the big day on the Gold Coast on January 14 along with Greylander and The Big Goodbye also heading to the Coast.

- Bellinger: Wednesday, Dec 14 – Sandown
- Luna Rocks, Dec 16 – Canterbury ?
- The Big Goodbye, Dec 17 – Eagle Farm
- Greylander, Dec 21 – Doomben

Good luck to all Owners and now let’s check out the major chances of your TRL Trainers this Saturday.
FREEDMAN IS A DIVA
“That’s the most pleased, I’ve been with her” jockey Tommy Berry said when he jumped off Luna Rocks after her Rosehill barrier trial win on Thursday.
Trainer Will Freedman was equally impressed but added “she’s still a work in progress but the talent is there” Freedman said.
On Saturday, the stable has one of their other favourites Juan Diva (Race 6) at Eagle Farm in action. She was terrific last start when trapped wide and still finished second.
BET: Juan Diva – Win (EF Race 6)
GAI TO CELEBRATE XMAS EARLY
Gai Waterhouse could be celebrating Christmas early with Dajraan (Race 8) a major chance at good odds in the $2 million Ingham which is the new name for the traditional Villiers at Royal Randwick.
Dajraan has drawn the car park but is coming off a great win at Rosehill last start.
BET: Dajraan – Each Way (Randwick Race 8)
BET: The Little Pumper – Each Way (Randwick Race 5)
BET: Russian Roni – Each Way (Sandown Race 3)
CIARON TO SEE THE DOCTOR
Like many of the top trainers Ciaron Maher has been in the Hunter Valley inspecting yearlings this week but he’ll be going for the Doctor on Saturday at Randwick.
Dr Drill (Race 5) is a $6 chance. It’s over 2 years since his last win but I reckon he can break the drought.
Nugget (Race 9) should win but is short in the market, while at Sandown Artika (Race 4) won at Moe on a Heavy track but is also good on top of the ground.
BET: Dr Drill – Each Way – (Randwick Race 5)
BET: Nugget – Win (Randwick Race 9)
BET: Artika – Win (Sandown Race 4)
BET: Stay In Touch (Sandown Race 9)
KIM WAUGH WITH A SWEET END TO THE DAY
NSW Tycoons trainer Kim Waugh has sent Sidenay to the paddock for a spell after an unlucky campaign.
Kim could finish the day with a bang at Randwick with Sweet Ruby (Race 10) she’s already firmed in to $12 from $16 was a good second last start and is now fit being third-up.
BET: Sweet Ruby – Each Way (Randwick Race 10)
GOLLAN IN FOR A MASSIVE DAY
Tony Gollan has 10 runners across the 9 races at Eagle Farm with the winner of the feature event The Gateway gaining automatic entry to the $2 million Stradbroke.
Tony’s best value for mine is the 3yo filly Latakia (Race 2) who was super on debut and sprinted away for a big win.
BET: Latakia – Win (Eagle Farm Race 2)
HELLUVA BARTY HEADING TO MAGIC MILLIONS MAIDEN
Qld Rogues owners have every reason to be happy with the news from the O’Dea/Hoysted stable that Helluva Barty is targeting the $250,000 Magic Millions Maiden on January 7.
At Eagle Farm, Fleetwood Maca (Race 5) is a terrific each-way chance, while Shooting for Gold (Race 7) is short in the market at $3.20 but with a bit of luck should be winning.
BET: Fleetwood Maca – Each Way (EF Race 5)
BET: Shooting For Gold – Win (EF Race 7)
HEATHCOTE HAS TWO ROGUES IN HIS STABLE
Rob Heathcote has two Qld Rogues in his stable with 2yo filly Caxton Lass arriving to keep The Big Goodbye company.
Rob’s best chance at Eagle Farm, looks like Sir Rocket (Race 9) in the lucky last.
BET: Sir Rocket – Win (Eagle Farm Race 9)
MOODY WITH A DOUBLE CHANCE
If you can be patient the on-fire Peter Moody stable could really help you finish the day in the black.
See Marie (Race 7) is a good 5yo mare at attractive odds of $11 and can win this.
Riot & Rose (Race 8) makes great appeal at $5 was a good fourth first-up and will improve.
BET: See Marie – Each Way (Sandown Race 7)
BET: Riot & Rose – Each Way (Sandown Race 8)
EDMONDS PURPLE PATCH TO CONTINUE
The Toby and Trent Edmonds camp is going well and they can cap off a real purple patch with Me Me Lagarde (Race 8) the standout in the Gateway and if she can win will automatically into the Stradbroke.
She won in Listed company at the Gold Coast and if they go quick up front she will steam over the top.
BET: Me Me Lagarde – Each Way (EF Race 8)
Good luck and good punting.
