TRL OWNERS WITH 3 RUNNERS TO WATCH

May 26, 2022

There’s no shortage of action for owners in The Racing League with three runners this weekend plus Lethal Thoughts heading to the $1 million Group 1 JJ Atkins on June 11 in Brisbane.

Hot Spring Gold makes his debut for the Rogues at the Sunshine Coast Friday night.

Eureka Storm debuts for the high-flying Husslers at Wodonga, while The Big Goodbye will be under the spotlight at Doomben on Monday.

Keep reading for more on your horses plus we’ll try and find some winners from our other TRL trainers.

HOT SPRING GOLD TO DEBUT

It’s been a frustrating time for trainer Chris Munce with Hot Spring Gold’s campaign severely affected by the big wet in South East Queensland.

This Randwick Saturday winner will debut for the Rogues at the Sunny Coast on the poly track on Friday night.

“We’ve gotten to the stage where Hot Spring Gold just has to run. We’ve been waiting for the rain to stop but it just keeps coming down. Not ideal to be on the poly track over 1100 meters but that’s just the cards we are dealt at the moment” Munce said.

While at Eagle Farm on Saturday, Chris has a good each way chance at $11 in Southern Stock in the Queensland Derby.

EUREKA STORM TO MAKE HIS MARK

A good crew of loyal Vic Husslers are making the trek to Wodonga on Saturday for the debut of Eureka Storm.

This is a horse that the Mick Price/Michael Kent Junior team has always had a good opinion of and while you think Wodonga would be an easy kill it actually looks like a super competitive race.

“Eureka Storm’s worked well on Tuesday morning and this is a nice assignment to see what he’ll show under race conditions,” Kent Junior said.

On Saturday at Caulfield, the stable has Cambourne (Race 9) as a major player at the good odds of $10 with Sportsbet. The aggressive Alan Kelly takes the claim and has won second-up before.

THE BIG GOODBYE WAITS TILL MONDAY

With last Saturday’s Doomben Cup meeting being postponed, The Big Goodbye has been rescheduled to start on Monday at Doomben weather permitting.

“The delay doesn’t appear to have fazed The Big Goodbye. He seems well in himself, has form on a Heavy track and is ready to run a big race” Heathcote said.

On Saturday at Eagle Farm, Rob has two of the favourites in Race 6. Prince of Boom $3.60 up against Startantes $5.50. I’ve got a leaning towards Prince of Boom who was super last start and only looks to be getting better.

LETHAL THOUGHTS IS HEADED TO A GROUP 1.

It’s the stuff “dreams are made of” with Lethal Thoughts heading to Brisbane to contest the Group 1 JJ Atkins Stakes worth a cool $1 million.

In the meantime, the Maher/Eustace juggernaut rolls and we are happy to be part of the ride.

At Eagle Farm, don’t forget about Biscayne Bay (Race 1), she’s a $10 chance with Sportsbet, has Jamie Kah in the saddle and her two runs back have been very good.

At Caulfield, Grandslam (Race 7) is tight in the Sportsbet market at $3 but was super impressive winning here before pulling up lame last start.

Sir Davy (Race 8) looks like good value $8 Sportsbet, he’s won his last 3 straight and gets the job done.

MOODY MAGIC

It could be a huge day for Peter Moody at Caulfield this Saturday.

McKeon (Race 2) is a talented 2yo filly, who’s well bred and looked good winning a Pakenham jump out.

Ocean Blue (Race 3) is a 3yo filly on the rise, she’s only had two starts for a win and a third.

Gentility (Race 4) is another 3yo filly with a stack of potential. She’s had 1 start for 1 win and that race has been a solid form race.

PRIDE HEADS NORTH

Joe Pride heads north for the carnival with a couple of his stable stars.

Taksu (Race 7) is one of the best wet trackers in Australia, he romped home last start at Randwick and while Eagle Farm will be on the firmer side, Taksu is the one to beat.

Private Eye (Race 9) has a stack of class and while he disappointed in the Doncaster, he’s been specked from $27 to $17 with Sportsbet and is worth an each way play.

WATERHOUSE AND BOTT TO RESONATE

It’s always wise to stick with horses in form from good stables and Resonator trained by Gai and Adrian fits the bill

At Eagle Farm, Resonator (Race 4) has won his two starts leading up to this and will be out in front and take some catching.

At Randwick, Golden Queen (Race 2) is tight in the market at $3 but finished second in the Woodlands Stakes at Scone behind In Secret with Luna Rocks an unlucky fifth.

TAHITI LOOKS NICE FOR GOLLAN

By his busy standards, it’s a quiet day at Eagle Farm on Saturday for Tony Gollan.

You’ll have to be patient, I reckon his best each way chance comes in the last race, Tahitian Dancer. This mare hit the line well last start and can go one better with Jamie Kah on board.

NEWNHAM IS ON A MISSION

NSW Tycoons trainer Mark Newnham has a couple of major chances on his home track on Saturday.

Mission Phoenix (Race 5) was a good third at Scone over 2200m is rock hard fit and will give a big sight.

Dragonstone (Race 7) has been placed his last three and can turn the tables on the favourite Andermatt.
