SLIPPER DAY THE GREATEST
There’s nothing quite like Longines Golden Slipper day at Rosehill Gardens.
It’s not just the world’s richest two-year-old race on turf, but there’s a total of five Group 1 events.
In Melbourne, there’s the staging of the All Star Mile worth a staggering $5 million, certainly not to be ignored.
Our TRL trainers continue to dominate the winners enclosure so it’s time to find some winners.
MAHER & EUSTACE CHASING HISTORY
It’s been a long 9 weeks since Slipper favourite Coolangatta has raced and she’ll have to break the record books if successful on Saturday.
She looked great in the Newcastle jump out and with a bit of luck from barrier 14 there’s no doubt she can complete the Magic Millions/Golden Slipper double.
Ciaron has a real soft spot for Away Game and she never runs a bad race. Away Game has been smashed in early Sportsbet markets and can win at big odds.
The stable could complete a massive day with Steinem in the last race, the booking of James McDonald is a significant boost.
While at Flemington the unbeaten filly Yonce looks to be another star in the making, she’s short but will anchor many a multi on the day.

THE SLIPPER FITS MICK PRICE & MICHAEL KENT JUNIOR
If you haven’t seen Jacquinot’s incredible Blue Diamond effort, make sure you log on and check it out – I haven’t seen a horse that wide since Veandercross and I won’t mention the jockey.
Jacquinot was virtually pushed to the outside fence and had the audacity to still loom and look the winner, he’s my Golden Slipper bet at double digit odds at Sportsbet.
At Flemington, the stable has a very nice prospect in Lombardo who won three straight last campaign and looks a clear pick in Race 2.
BET: Jacquinot – Each Way (Rosehill Race 8)
BET: Lombardo – Win (Flemington Race 2)
MARK NEWNHAM TO REALISE A CHILDHOOD DREAM
NSW Rogues trainer Mark Newnham grew up dreaming of training a Golden Slipper winning on Saturday he gets to fulfill that dream with last start winner Seven Veils.
The soft track will help Seven Veils and don’t forget to include him in your exotics.
Mark’s best hope is Harmony Rose, who disappointed last start but in this class and at $5.50 with Sportsbet is worth a flutter.
BET: Harmony Rose – Each Way (Rosehill Race 4)
PRIDE TO SHINE AGAIN
Joe Pride is quickly becoming one of our favourite TRL trainers – he just keeps delivering winners like Stockman last week.
On Saturday, there’s no reason his strike rate won’t continue with Private Eye (Race 7). Barrier 1 looks good, but he’ll drift back to the tail and need some luck, but watch out if he gets space.
BET: Private Eye – Each Way (Rosehill Race 7)
MOODY NO BLUES
Pete Moody is still bullish about his Vic Husslers 2yo The Big Freeze which has just come back into work.
I reckon Mood’s recent success will keep rolling at Flemington.
Pounding was extremely impressive winning at Sandown last start and there’s no reason he won’t step up again at Flemington.
Lightsaber has been specked from $23 to $16 in Race 6, he was left in front a long way from home last start and stuck on extremely well.

BET: Lightsaber – Each Way (Flemington Race 6)
GAI’S DAY
The first lady of racing has won an amazing SEVEN Golden Slippers, but we are looking away from the big one for winners from her yard.
Knights Order, has already firmed from $9 to $7 with Sportsbet, it showed great courage first-up, should be strip fitter and be hard to beat.
Converge, is already a Group 1 winner, has already beaten Anamoe in the Ryder and with his style of racing can beat the hotpot again.

BET: Converge – Each Way (Rosehill Race 6)
BUSY TIME FOR GOLLAN
Huge excitement for our Qld Rogues team with Greylander making his debut on Sunday at the Sunshine Coast.
Tony is happy with his two trials and has a good opinion of Greylander but this is a strong race.
Le Palmier (Race 5) looks like his best hope at the Gold Coast on Saturday, it’s never missed a place first-up in five preparations.
Ef Troop (Race 9) has to get the 1400m but at $10 with Sportsbet is worth an interest.
BET: Le Palmier – Win (Gold Coast Race 5)
BET: Ef Troop – Each Way (Gold Coast Race 9)
ANDERSON STARTING TO FIRE
Can’t wait to get racing with Chris Anderson and our Flyting Artie 2yo who’s about to join his stable.
Chris has two great chances on Saturday at good odds at the Gold Coast.
Glamborgini (Race 6) is a $10 chance with Sportsbet, has good early speed and can lead all the way.
Boomtown Lass (Race 8) was a real eye catcher winning from the tail last start at the Sunny Coast and there’s no reason she won’t continue to step up.
BET: Glamborgini – Each Way (Gold Coast Race 6)

Good luck and good punting, TK
