The Racing League’s Head of Bloodstock Mick Malone was thrilled to walk away from the Inglis Premier Sales earlier this week with two quality yearlings for TRL. The recent sales have been hot and this one was no different, with prices on Day 1 already up by 14% from the previous year.
Mick was able to secure Lot 263 early on Day 2, a gorgeous colt by Written Tycoon out of Group 1 winning mare Steps In Time. A few hours later and there was the second purchase, a filly by European Stallion Almanzor out of mare Clemency, with both lots costing $176,000 (inc. GST).
Lot 263 – Written Tycoon x Steps In Time:
Written Tycoon x Steps in Time has already been likened to current 2YO Eureka Storm being trained by the Price Kent camp. It is the length of this colt that has the team excited. You can review his full pedigree plus his sale parade and sale pictures by clicking here.
His Dam Steps in Time was also a Group One winning mare. Her form when she won the Coolmore Stakes in 2014 was impressive. She also won multiple other Group races.

Lot 431 – Almanzor (FR) x Clemency:
Almanzor X Clemency was high on the priority list for the Bloodstock team, and TRL is delighted to be able to bring her into TRLs stable. You can review her full pedigree plus her sale parade and sale pictures by clicking here.
Antony Thompson from Widden Stud who bred her loves her balance, strength and her intelligence. He also valued her at a higher purchase price so this filly is great buying!

We are thrilled to walk away from the Inglis Premier Sales in Melbourne with these two quality yearlings. The next step for TRL teams is to draft these horses to their teams and then allocate their trainers, which will be done once the final yearling is purchased at the Inglis Easter Sales in Sydney.
Bring on Easter!
